The Conservative Party has proposed a £700 million childcare expansion that would extend free entitlement to households earning more than £100,000, according to Kemi Badenoch.
The policy aims to eliminate what the party calls a "cliff edge" in the current system, where free childcare support ends at higher income thresholds. Badenoch stated that those earning more than £100,000 should not be discouraged from working more hours.
The proposal was announced ahead of the Conservative Party's annual conference in Birmingham. It follows an earlier Conservative plan to abolish most stamp duty, a tax change that would also disproportionately benefit wealthier households.
