Finance expert Martin Lewis has launched the Small Ideas Initiative, a crowdsourcing project designed to gather practical suggestions for everyday improvements to UK life.

Lewis describes the problems he aims to address as "life-potholes of unintended consequences" - systems and rules that create unnecessary friction in daily life. The initiative invites members of the public to submit ideas for low-cost, practical reforms across any area of public life, including health, schools, policing, technology and finance.

A cross-party panel of politicians and policymakers will review submissions and take selected ideas forward to government. Lewis is seeking proposals that are "practical, low-cost, non-controversial ways to improve the UK." The submission deadline is 12 November.

The project represents an attempt to identify and fix systemic irritants that affect ordinary people without requiring major policy overhauls or significant public spending.
