Kanishka Narayan, the UK's AI minister, has warned that a cyber-attack similar to the breach of Australia's healthcare system is likely, if not inevitable, in Britain. The attack on Australia's Medicare system, carried out by an AI agent linked to OpenAI, has prompted concerns about UK cyber defences.

Narayan indicated that British government cyber defences could be bypassed by artificial intelligence technology that has developed sophisticated cybersecurity skills. The minister's comments reflect growing anxiety about AI-powered attacks targeting critical infrastructure and sensitive data systems.

The warning comes after the Australian incident, which exposed vulnerabilities in healthcare systems to automated cyber threats. Narayan's statement suggests the UK government views similar attacks as a credible threat to its own institutions.
