UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will meet the EU's home affairs commissioner on Monday to discuss law enforcement cooperation, migration, border management and counter-terrorism, according to the European Commission.

The meeting follows recent comments from Prime Minister Andy Burnham indicating he wants the UK to rejoin European law enforcement databases. The UK has been locked out of these systems since Brexit.

Frontex data published on Monday showed a 43% decline in small boats crossing the Channel, according to the European Commission.

The talks represent an attempt to restore practical cooperation between UK and EU agencies on security and border matters after the UK's departure from the European Union severed its access to shared law enforcement tools.
