Northern Ireland Secretary of State Chris Bryant has banned the Drumcree parade, ending a 13-day standoff between the Orange Order and nationalist residents.

Bryant announced the decision on Friday night, stating it was "not in the public interest" for Orangemen to march through Garvaghy Road in Portadown. Catholic residents had blocked the contested route, preventing the march from proceeding.

The Drumcree parade has long been a flashpoint in Northern Ireland. The Orange Order, a Protestant fraternal organisation, sought to march the route through the predominantly Catholic neighbourhood. The impasse lasted nearly two weeks before Bryant intervened with the ban.
