More than 82,000 properties without power as Storm Boelo batters UK

Storm Boelo has left more than 82,000 properties without power across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England, the Met Office reports. Wind gusts reached 84mph as the weather system battered the region on Saturday evening.

The storm is the second named system to hit the UK in consecutive days. Storm Austen brought strong winds to south-west England on Friday. The Met Office issued weather warnings across the affected northern areas.
