A 60-year-old man died after a tree fell on him near Castle Douglas in Scotland as Storm Boelo swept across the UK on Saturday evening. More than 82,000 properties lost power during the storm, which affected Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the north of England.
The Met Office recorded wind gusts of up to 84mph during the weather event. Storm Boelo was the second named storm in two consecutive days. Storm Austen had brought strong winds to south-west England on Friday.
