The government has set an ambition to increase the share of English agricultural land farmed organically to 10% by 2036, marking a significant expansion from the current 3.4%, according to The Guardian.
The plan aims to support food and climate resilience, the government states. England currently ranks among Europe's lowest for organic farming adoption. France, by comparison, already farms 10.4% of its land organically and has committed to reaching 18% by 2027.
However, questions persist about how the transition will be funded. The Guardian reports that concerns remain unresolved on this central challenge to achieving the target.
